January:
6th grade Language HAL and Math HAL will kick off the Cookie Quest unit of study --Students are managing a cookie company for profit and learning about entrepreneurship, problem solving and teamwork. After companies have selected their theme and cookie recipe they will focus on marketing their cookies at GMS, will they spend money on a commercial, posters, announcements, etc.. The next step is determining how many cookies to make, calculating expenses and cookie pricing based on data. It should be a fun "real world" learning experience for students!

February 8th: 7th & 8th Language HAL activity day -- Performance Storytelling
February 11th: 6th Math HAL: optional UNL engineering ambassador zoom workshop on the engineering and physics behind rollercoaster. In the library from 1:00 to 2:00
February 24th: 8th Math HAL optional UNL engineering ambassador zoom workshop on Don't Skip A Beat. Students will explore the physics behind pacemakers and discover the types of engineers that work with this technology. Meet in the HAL room 10:00 to 11:00
February 25th: Optional activity for 7th & 8th Language HAL students -- zoom workshop with the Nebraska poet, Matt Mason -- unit of study to follow on what it takes to compete at a Poetry Slam. Focus on writing and performing (fun) poetry.
